Nov 12, 2014Over 3,000 Petition Signatures Delivered to Attorney General Chris Koster

More than 3,000 Missourians signed a petition that was delivered today to Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster, urging him to not appeal U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith’s landmark ruling that found Missouri’s marriage ban to be unconstitutional.

A group of faith leaders, couples and community leaders from Show Me Marriage gathered at the Old Post Office in St. Louis, Missouri at 10am to present the petition signatures and ask Attorney General Chris Koster to stop his legal appeal, so that all Missourians have the freedom to marry.

***Update, as of November 7, Jackson County is issuing marriage licenses as well.

On November 5, 2014, St. Louis City’s Circuit Court Judge Rex Burlison ruled Missouri’s marriage ban unconstitutional.
This is the second historic win for Missouri in the court this year, following the Barrier decision this past September. While PROMO celebrates the extension of marriage benefits to Missourians in St. Louis City, we eagerly anticipate Attorney General Chris Koster’s appeal of this decision which will pave the way for marriage recognition across Missouri.

Oct 03, 2014Tell Attorney General Chris Koster NOT to Appeal!

In a historic decision issued by Judge J. Dale Youngs, couples legally married in states that allow same sex marriage will also have full marriage recognition in Missouri. Tell Attorney General Chris Koster NOT to appeal this decision and land on the right side of hisory. Governor Nixon made the right decision on to allow for same sex married couples to file joint tax returns and now it is Koster's turn to follow in his footsteps. Please sign the petition and tell Koster that LOVE IS LOVE, don't appeal the ruling.
